Mondeuse @ Tabla

I just had an awesome bottle of Mondeuse at Tabla. The Mediterranean bistro features seriously drool-worthy tapas and a fabulously exhuberant staff. But what is Mondeuse, you may ask? Mondeuse Noir is a playful red grape whose made it's home in Savoy, France, where it is often blended with Gamay, Pinot, and the lesser known Poulsard. These bright, temperately tannic wines are full of uplifting aromas---I smell blueberries and violets and my heart starts swirling with the romance of the French countryside. Oh mon dieu, j'aime le Vin de Savoie!

Boisterous Bottled Barrel Wash

Many thanks to Aaron for this mysterious and tasty bottle of Adelsheim. What's inside the bottle: a random blend of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir + Syrah. To transition a barrel between grape juice, winemaker Gina Hennen did a quick "rinse" of it's interior with Pinot and bottled the resulting excess---why waste?!

PDX Wine, Urban Style.

Urban winemakers Chris Wishart and Ryan Lee Sharp gave us a sneak peek of Enso Winery's recently transformed vintage warehouse space this weekend, and boy, how their hard work has payed off! Their stylish new tasting lounge is smack in the middle of Stark Street's hot spot, neighboring Meat Cheese Bread + Thai Thai. The space also doubles as their winery, serves as a bottle shop + convivial summer hang-out, will feature rotating favorite brews on tap, and host visiting winemakers + their fabulous local creations. More about Enso from The Oregonian and other winos.
